The meaning of festivals, for me at least, is to experience something transformative. To walk away with a feeling you cannot describe, but you feel rooted back to yourself. Music ringing in your head, a lightness to your step, a hope restored.
When a friend asked which festivals I recommend, I thought of these.
Some I've been to. Some are on my personal interest list. All were selected for the same reasons: independent organization, boutique capacity, serious sound investment, and care for their community.
If you're one of the privledged ones who can travel and experience the world, don't waste your time. We don't even know If we have tomorrow. Live life to the fullest, go to festivals!
